Access and Inclusion level one package

​This package is for small to medium organisations and local and state government settings.

​

This level one workshop package is designed to empower staff towards a confidence in disability literacy. It covers broad content that can be relevant for diverse work teams (community facing or internal).  It is a 4-hour workshop with a half hour break in the middle. The package can be run face to face ideally but also via a video conferencing platform, like Zoom, Teams etc.

The package includes 4 modules.

 

​Understanding disability and practical inclusive strategies

  3. Respectful Language

  4. The Power of access symbols

  5. Inclusive strategies that can be applied in your workplace today.​

 

 

Exploring authentic inclusivity with people with lived expertise

  1. Stories of lived experience of disability unpack what good access means to them and the barriers they have encountered.

Access and Inclusion level two package

Who is this for?

Small to medium organisations, local and state government settings.

​

This level two workshop package is designed to be tailored for the specific needs of the organisation or work setting, after having completed Access and Inclusion level one or if the organisation has an existing strong inclusive culture and wants to extend it. There are two tailoring meetings offered prior to ensure the session is meaningful, useful and provides tangible outcomes.

​

It is a 4-hour workshop with a half hour break in the middle. The package can be run face to face ideally, but also via a video conferencing platform, like Zoom, MS Teams etc.

​

The modules include...

 

Inclusive Community

In depth strategies for working and engaging with specific communities (e.g. people with Autism, who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, who are blind or have low vision, have physical disability, mental illness or chronic illness)

 

Intersectionality

What does this mean, and how should this impact our engagement with communities and staff?

 

Inclusive organisational processes

Strategies and considerations to move towards being an authentically inclusive organisation.

 

Topics can include...

Human Resources processes - recruitment, onboarding of new staff and staff training.

Marketing and Communications – how to reach and engage with the broadest diversity of people through inclusive communications processes such as targeted promotions, the use of Easy English and engaging community bridging people.

Program and service delivery – developing inclusive programs and services.

Included in this package

Universal Inclusion package

 

Who is this for?

Small to medium organisations, local and state government settings.

​

This introductory workshop package is designed to explore general inclusive practice in an organisational setting. It focuses on creating an inclusive foundation to engage respectfully and authentically with diverse communities, internally and externally, such as:

The disability community

Multicultural communities

First Nations communities

LGBTQIA+ communities

And applying a gender equity lens

​

It is a 4-hour workshop with a half hour break in the middle. The package is ideally delivered face to face, but can also be offered via a video conferencing platform, like Zoom, MS Teams etc.

Audio Description for live events

Audio Description is a service to support people who are blind or have low vision to better engage with video and live events such as workshops, art exhibitions, theatre and lectures. This module is an introduction to using Audio Description for live events.

Inclusive infrastructure

To retrofit or not to retrofit? An introduction into how to understand how accessibility is communicated within the Australian Building Standards, how the Disability Discrimination Act works to protect access, and accessible builds and retrofits.
